Press Release: NMS CARES TO LAUNCH ITS FREE I.T. PROGRAM IN SEPTEMBER

August 4, 2014, Baguio City – Following its successful Information Event last August 2, NMS Cares founder Martin Eyking makes his rounds on all 4 schools catering to Deaf learners in Baguio City along with 1 located in nearby La Trinidad.

To further cement partnerships with academic institutions that look after the education of young Deaf individuals of the local community, NMSC has begun to collate information from the schools that could help the team in customizing the organization's IT programs. Using in-house content, the team is set to launch customized and level-specific learning programs derived from the results of the survey questionnaires distributed to the different schools. The statistics gathered from the survey will help NMSC to gauge the IT skill level of the young Deaf learners, which is crucial in ensuring that the kids are categorized correctly and placed under the right program.
"In order for us to be able to deliver our services seamlessly to the community, it is important that we have the right information. There is no best way to ensure that our programs and workshops are spot-on other than getting first-hand information on the learning capacity of our beneficiaries. And that is why partnering and working closely with Deaf schools is crucial." ~ Martin Eyking, during his visit to the different Deaf schools.
While the organization will be provided with its own space where NMSC trainers will conduct both after-school IT programs for the kids and Sign Language Workshops, it has also pledged to set up a computer unit and Internet access in all 5 Deaf schools.

Specific date of the after-school IT programs and Sign Language Workshops will be announced by the end of the month.

Press Release: NMSC Goes on Deaf School Visits

As NMS Cares fast tracks its mission to fully committing its services and resources for Deaf learners of the local community, a crucial step to its long term goal of fully advocating for less privileged young Deaf individuals all throughout the Asia Pacific, members of the organization went on a series of school visits that cater to Deaf Learners as part of its information dissemination efforts.

The organization visited three schools within Baguio City namely, Baguio School for the Deaf, the Special Education Department of Easter College and SLRI Deaf Resource Center. NMSC also trekked all the way to La Trinidad, Benguet to visit the Benguet SPED Center.

The organization's representatives met up with school heads, teachers, and Deaf students mainly to share, inform and, explain the advocacy of NMSC.

Moreover, General Manager Ara Paz Esperanza explained in an interview, "Other than information dissemination, NMS Cares would like to create a positive synergy among active advocates in the field of Deaf education."

The school visits also gave an opportunity for NMSC’s International Relations Officer Max Eyking, a chance to interact with the Deaf learners of the local community. Being an integral part of the organization's DREAM Program (Deaf Recreational Engagement Activity Movement), Max will be spearheading all NMSC physical and/or recreational projects during his 6-month stay in the country upon his return in November.

An opportunity to communicate directly with the people involved in the education of young Deaf individuals is pivotal as it allows NMS Cares to have an unrestricted view and understanding of the current situation of Deaf education in the local community.

Press Release: Deaf son of Aussie CEO gives back to the local Deaf community

Maximillian Eyking, son of New Media Services Pty. Ltd. CEO and NMS Cares founder Martin Eyking, kicks off his 5-day stay in the City of Pines teaching sign language to parents of Deaf learners at SPED Center Baguio.

Max opened the Monday Parent Sign Language Class by teaching basic American Sign Language signs for two sessions. He also took the chance to get to know the parents, as he'll be spending more time with their kids during his short visit. This is all still part of the organization's FOND Program (Family Oneness Nurturing the Deaf) that aims to encourage parents to have active involvement in the education and development of their Deaf child.

Moreover, as part of the organization's objective to create specialized recreation programs specially tailored for the Deaf community, Max has lined up a couple of sports activities, including Australian football, cricket and basketball with the Hearing Impaired Sequence kids of SPED Center Baguio.

Max’s short visit this month is crucial in laying out the ground stone for the future launch of NMSC’s DREAM Program (Deaf Recreational Engagement Activity Movement).

Before he leaves, Max is set to meet with other Deaf learners from the different Deaf schools around the city as part of fully acclimating himself into the local Deaf community. Max heads International Relations for NMS Cares. He is currently based in Melbourne. He splits his time between school and sports, him being a member of the Melbourne Deaf Basketball Club.
